Originally released in 1987 while Mariénne was studying massage therapy in Massachusetts. The departure from the folk/acoustic singer-songwriter varieties found on 1984's "Wrapped Around the Sun" was not only inspired by these holistic practices but she also states: "The original impulse for making "Heartroom" came from a dream that involved a tree and a simultaneous expansion of my heart".

"Heartroom" gracefully navigates the enchanting tapestries of Eberhard Weber's "Fluid Rustle" and Beverly Glenn-Copeland's "...keyboard fantasies...", weaving its own threads among the majesty. Adorned with the dulcet tones of Kreitlow's acoustic guitar, DX-7, flute, and wordless vocals, it creates an ever flowing musical experience. Her incredible sensitivity not only accentuates these musical elements but also paves the way for a sincere excursion into the celestial realm. Kreitlow seamlessly blends modern jazz sensibilities with a rambling folk quality and new age spaciousness. Think Windham Hill or the softer side of ECM. The compositions, guided by her keen grasp of instruments, effortlessly traverse the spectrum from melancholy to joy and back again. On the final two tracks, they are supported by the marvelous contributions of Christopher Rowan on the Celtic harp and zither.

Muted, greyscale ambient that aptly mimics the introspective calm and leaden stillness of winter. Hushed pads rise and curl like frosted mists, brittle rhythmic elements crunch and crack, and there's a resigned sense of solitude that permeates every second. This isn't quite as vibey and whimsical as "Only Love From Now On," but it's still a worthy addition to Villain's growing discography. PannionSeer
